The Ahmedabad Traffic Police have introduced AI-powered dashcams in collaboration with SmartCity to tackle traffic violations and improve road safety. Over 60 devices, including 29 installed in vehicles and 31 portable units for on-site use, will monitor offenses like helmetless riding, triple riding, and dangerous driving.

The system uses automated detection to record violations, which are verified and followed by SMS-based challans. A pilot project recorded over 800 violations, proving the effectiveness of the technology. Plans are underway to expand its use, targeting illegal parking and enhancing traffic regulation citywide.
